Sheemie Ruiz is a half-wit with the power to heal the world. After Roland Deschain and his original ka-tet escape the little town of Hambry, Sheemie entered the evil crystal known as Merlin's Grapefruit and saved Roland from its deadly possession. But his fidelity could not stem the tide of war, and Gilead, the last city of light, fell to the Crimson King. Sheemie was lost.

And then he was found. The Man in Black stole him out of the time of Mid-World and has brought him to a strange place to do the Crimson King's bidding. This is the story never told, the tale absent from Roland's constant memories.
